Hi, I’m Justin. I’ve been working in tech since 2021, mostly living in the space where a clever idea has to survive contact with a real system and real constraints. That’s the part I like: taking something abstract and figuring out how to actually make it work.
Lately most of what I think about is AI. What it’s good at, where it quietly falls apart, how the tools are changing the way I build and work day to day. I’m less interested in the hype cycle and more in the practical questions. What holds up when you use it for real? What’s just a demo? I’ll be writing a lot about that here, along with software, career stuff, and the systems I use to keep my own work from turning into chaos.
Away from the screen, I train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I’m a brown belt, still learning, still getting humbled on the mats every week. BJJ has taught me more about patience and problem-solving than any job has, and a fair amount of that leaks into how I think about everything else. Health, fitness, and nutrition matter to me for the same reason: they’re just other systems worth paying attention to.
When I’m not working or training, you’ll usually find me reading, outside, or hiking with my wife, Jennifer, and our husky, Silas. Some of my best thinking happens on a trail with the two of them, well away from any notifications.
This blog is where all of that lands. AI and software, training tips, book recommendations, and whatever I’ve been chewing on lately. My aim is to write things that are actually useful, the kind of post I’d want to find myself. If you’re here for the technical deep dives, the fitness stuff, or just curious what I’m building, glad you stopped by.
